Getting your workout done first thing in the morning makes perfect sense because you get it out of the way before something in the day thwarts your efforts. Your mind and body are pumped with endorphins and you are a productive bunny for the rest of the day.
But how do you get there? If you are not a natural at rising early, here are some tips to help you have a successful morning workout:
Lay out your work out gear the night before and place it where you are going to change. Fumbling around in a dark room while your partner sleeps (or tries to) makes the process longer and more painful than it should be.
Prep a light snack or beverage. Some folks can just exercise on an empty stomach but some need a little fuel. Make sure you know what you are going to eat — a banana, a nutritional bar, or some dried fruit and nuts, or a smoothie. You can certainly prep your smoothie the night before and store it in the fridge.
Sleep early. Get enough rest so you will feel more motivated when your alarm goes off.
Get an energizing play list ready. Music can help you kick some serious butt in the morning.
