Many people mistakenly believe that a collagen supplement is the consumption of collagen itself

In fact, a collagen supplement is not the consumption of collagen, it is actually the consumption of collagen peptides.

Collagen peptides are short chains of amino acids, in comparison to collagen itself which is a relatively long chain of amino acids. Collagen peptides are derived from collagen through a process called hydrolysis.

Almost 100% of the orally consumed VERISOL® collagen peptides are rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. This is indicated by a pronounced increase of these peptides in blood plasma observed 15 to 30 minutes after consumption.1

Bioavailability studies show that collagen peptides could be detected in varying amounts in different organs and connective tissues, including the skin, after oral administration.2

The Unique Characteristics of VERISOL

VERISOL® is produced through Gelita’s proprietary patented manufacturing processes.

The result of that manufacturing process is that VERISOL® is a collagen hydrolysate with a composition of at least 90% by weight of peptides with a molecular weight of less than 3,500 Da.

Moreover, VERISOL® comprises at least 45% by weight of four specifically characteristic peptides with a molecular weight between 600 and 1,200 Da.

The amino acid density of VERISOL® has a proportion of hydroxyproline of 12% or more by weight.

Gelita's manufacturing process delivers within VERISOL® a ratio of at least 50% of the N-terminal amino acids of the collagen hydrolysate being hydrophobic amino acids.
