At Sparkle Wellness, we’re committed to reducing plastic waste and transforming the way our products impact the planet.
Our Re-Sparkle It program lets you return your empty packaging so we can compost or recycle it responsibly.
We’re starting small and testing our closed-loop process. Our goal is a fully circular system where returned pouches are broken down into nutrient-rich soil.
By participating in returning back to us your finished pouches, you’re helping us move closer to a sustainable future — one where the full lifecycle of a product becomes the making of the product, getting it into your hands, being consumed and then the remnant packaging returned back to the earth without any trace of plastic.
How to Return your Pouch Step-By-Step
Step 1: Pack it up
Use the enclosed envelope to return your empty packaging to our facility. The envelope is prepaid so you don’t need to apply a stamp.
- Include: Empty pouch (including tear strip), dessicant card square, this postcard and pamphlet
- Do Not Include: Cardboard box your product arrived in (please recycle this), leftover food, etc.
Step 2: Drop It Off
Once you seal the envelope, drop it in a mailbox, and your part in closing the loop is finished — and we greatly appreciate it.
- Optional: Register your envelope using its QR code to get updates on your pouch’s journey — from delivery to dirt.
Packaging Stages: How We're Doing It
We committed to compostable pouches for our products in early 2024.
Some products released prior to that have not yet be converted from their original PET bottles. Going into 2026, we intend to migrate them to the compostable pouch format.
As well, compostable plastic has upper limit constraints for the net weight that can be in the pouch. For these products, we utilised a recycable plastic pouch as we work towards a solution for heavier net weight products.
Compostable
These pouches are compostable and be sent back through the Re-Sparkle It pre-paid envelope.
Products: Joint Boost, Muscle Boost, Bone Mineral Boost, Collagen Magnesium, Organic Allulose
Recyclable
These pouches can be recycled through regular means or can be sent back in the Re-Sparkle It prepaid envelopes.
Our goal is to convert these products to compostable pouches in mid 2026.

Recyclable PET
These bottles can be recycled through regular means. Our goal is to switch them to compostable pouches in mid 2026.

What actually happens to the pouch?
- Step 1: Shredded pouches are combined with organic scraps from food.
- Step 2: Composting occurs under controlled heat (~60°C / 140°F). The PLA (polylactic acid) in our pouches breaks down into lactic acid.
- Step 3: Microbes in the compost convert organic matter and lactic acid into humus, along with water (H2O) and carbon dioxide (CO2) — creating nutrient-rich soil ready to foster new plant growth.
The Truth About Everyday Plastic
Here’s the hard truth: Regular plastic sticks around forever — and we mean thousands of years forever.
After its disposal, plastic breaks down into smaller pieces over a long period of time, eventually becoming microplastics. These pieces of plastic of any size are problematic as they permeate soil, waterways, oceans, and even into our food sources. This is known as plastic pollution. From wildlife to human food, it is detrimental to our broader ecosystem.
Using compostable plastic, as opposed to conventional plastic, is a step towards reducing the impact of plastic pollution.
But wait — isn't plastic recyclable?
While recycling plastic is certainly better than throwing it in the trash bin, the sad fact is that the capacity to recycle various types of plastic is limited. Even if recycled twice, three times or more, eventually conventional plastic will end up in landfill.
The Re-Sparkle It program is a vital step in changing the environmental story of our products, and it means the world to us to finally have this piece in place.
