A fter more than 10 years as a professional dancer — gracing the stage with stars like Jennifer Lopez and appearing in TV shows such as Crazy Ex Girlfriend — dancer, choreographer, and fitness enthusiast Meagan Kong began to share her passion for fitness and holistic health online.
In 2018, she created Kong Fit Club, which hosted more than 90 free workout events in Los Angeles. Now, Kong Fit Club has a brick-and-mortar clubhouse in Hollywood, where Meagan leads group fitness and dance classes — empowering and uplifting others through movement. What we love about Meagan is she steps up for her community every day, making healthy living a fun and inspiring experience.
We sat down to chat with Meagan about her self-care routine for her wedding and she shares some tips on how to have a more vibrant, healthy summer ahead.
Sparkling for her wedding
As Meagan supports others, she relies on Sparkle collagen as part of her personal support team. “Inside our body, collagen plays a key role in building muscle, protecting joints, and supporting bone mineral density. Sparkle is the only brand that creates different collagen peptides and different collagen products to target different parts of the body,” Meagan says.
Leading up to her March 2023 nuptials, Meagan was focused on targeting her skin and hair health. “Skin and hair were number one for me when it came to my wedding prep,” she declares. She got a major boost from Sparkle Skin Boost Plus, which has been clinically proven to enhance skin’s collagen levels by up to 60%, in addition to supporting hair thickness and nail strength.
Skin Boost Plus became an integral part of Meagan’s morning routine. “Mornings are me and my husband’s thing! We got to know each other over hours of coffee drinking, and nine years later, this stands true,” she says. “Pre-wedding, we extended our coffee mornings with one more cup — but instead of coffee, we enjoyed hot water, honey, and lemon with a scoop of unflavored Skin Boost Plus. We both ended up craving it.”
Meagan and her husband quickly noticed results — and their glow up was obvious to others, too. “I drag my husband to get his brows groomed. After three months of not seeing our brow technician and taking Skin Boost Plus every morning, we visited her the week before the wedding. She was shocked because she noticed that both of our brows were darker and fuller since seeing us last,” Meagan raves. “My esthetician also noticed that my skin texture was more even and smooth. Taking Skin Boost Plus was such an easy and enjoyable thing to do with a great payoff on the big day.”
Meagan’s summer self-care tips
Whether you’re preparing for your own big event or simply a fun summer in the sun, Meagan and Sparkle agree that “it’s about the little things we do for ourselves every day that culminate in making a big difference,” she says.
Kong wants to help you shine this season, so she’s sharing her four top tips for summer self-care. These will help you feel healthy, energized, and radiant from the inside out.
Take it outside
“Soak up the vitamin D with outdoor sweat sessions,” Meagan suggests. Vitamin D — aka the sunshine vitamin — has been shown to help reduce inflammation and support immunity, muscle function, and brain health. D can also deliver a boost to your workout. A study from the journal Sports Health found that upping levels of vitamin D increased muscle protein synthesis, strength, exercise capacity, and physical performance. Enjoy a run, hike, walk, bike ride, or do your favorite strength workout outside.
Eat in season
Choose the ripe stuff. Fresh, in-season fruits and veggies that ripen naturally and are eaten shortly after harvesting are rich in vitamins and antioxidants. In-season picks for summer include watermelon, berries, cherries, mangoes, summer squash, corn, tomatoes, and zucchini. “I love to make watermelon salad and roasted corn salsa for my BBQ sides,” Meagan recommends.
Be prepared for anything
“Have a bag with sunscreen, bug spray, and a beach chair in the car at all times so you are ready for impromptu outdoor fun,” Meagan offers. Being prepared for some key essentials goes a long way to help make spontaneous fun happen and feel real joy in the moment. Do you know that smiling is an essential part of self-care? We looked it up and studies show it supports whole body health.
Hydration is essential for your energy levels, mood, brain power, and joints. It’s especially important in the warmer summer months, when we lose water through sweat. I love to stay hydrated and feeling refreshed with a sparkling Sparkle beverage,” Meagan reveals. “I mix flavored Sparkle Skin Boost Plus with sparkling water. Then, I toss a bunch of sliced citrus in a tumbler with ice and pour the sparkling Sparkle on top.”
